HDR Imaging

Even despite constant improvements in todays imaging devices can’t rival human eye in resolution and ability to adapt to high contrast scenes. As a result, digital images only partially capture high contrast scenes lacking details either in shadows or highlights. HDR imaging allows to work around this limitation.

HDR imaging forms a strong foundation for various work done by Kizny Visuals – from photography through panoramic work to timelapse, stop motion and film.

HDR Processing

A common misconception is that HDR images necessarily have artificial or hyperrealistic look. HDR images, while captured properly, hold extremely rich detail and allow for different ways of processing. The same source images may have the common overdone “HDR look” or may pass totally unnoticed while processed aiming for natural look.
A good example is the footage of the Zeliszow temple processed experimentally pushing details to the extreme for “The Chapel” and used in a natural way for “Rebirth”. While some clients contact us for the “HDR look”, very often we use HDR to achieve top capture quality, but process retaining realistic look.

UV & Infrared Imaging


Vision needs tools and when it comes to enhancing photographic techniques arsenal we’ve long been into Infrared and UV imaging. Using modified DSLR cameras enables us to take pictures using full visual spectrum ranging from deep-infrared – mostly proving itself in landscape photo and cinematography to UV which can be used for enhancing portraiture.


Light Painting

Focus on creative imaging techniques make lightpainting an important tool for Kizny Visuals team. Whether used for still photography or taken to another level with motion controlled long-exposure timelapse, the results are fresh and eye-catching.



By combining VFX and CGI techniques team prepares time slices of 3D objects. The slices are displayed as a video on a display which is placed in a scene and moved manually (for still photography) or via motion control hardware (for motion picture) to be finally registered using long-exposure technique. As a result, a holographic image appears in a real space (at least as captured by the camera). Thanks to scripting and automation, the same process may be repeated thousands of times for film shots with a moving camera revealing a holographic object in a real space.


Although shooting Milky Way photographs has become possible with modern DSLR cameras, deep-sky astrophotography still requires specialized equipment and extreme proficiency in digital imaging. Kizny’s experience spans across both areas, but interestingly, his path started with deep-sky imaging.


Building a remotely-controlled observatory back in 2007 allowed him to gather experience in deep-sky and narrowband imaging using scientific instruments and take breathtaking images of galaxies and nebulae.


Although not directly viable commercially, deep-sky astrophotography significantly contributed to Kizny’s proficiency in timelapse cinematography. Shared passion for the mysteries of the sky makes Kizny Visuals team the right partner for science communication projects.
